Our Story

From the Golden Age of Amsterdam to the Golden Future of Dubai.

A Taste of Amsterdam. A New Story in Dubai.

Amsterdam · the 1600s

A small city with an extraordinary ambition

Four centuries ago, Amsterdam was a city you could cross on foot in an hour. Yet its canals were crowded with ships, its quays with merchants, carpenters, printers and dreamers.

Within a few generations it became one of the world’s great trading centres: a place where maps were drawn, ideas were argued over and new things were tried.

Heritage, honestly told

A story of exchange, with all its shades

Spices, sugar and cocoa travelled through the port, and with them recipes, techniques and people from many shores. Dutch kitchens and bakeries absorbed it all.

That age was golden for some and deeply unjust for many others, and we remember both. We are not heirs of any trading company. What inspires us is quieter: curiosity, craft and the meeting of cultures.

Gouda · the 1800s

Then came the stroopwafel

The stroopwafel is younger than the canals. It became known in nineteenth-century Gouda, where bakers pressed thin wafers and filled them with warm caramel syrup.

The light, golden poffertje grew up alongside it, a festival treat sold from market stalls. Simple recipes, made with patience, handed down by hand.

The Dutch table, today

Warm, golden, made to share

The scent of a stroopwafel coming off the iron. A plate of poffertjes, still puffing, dusted with powdered sugar. Fresh strawberries finished with flowing milk or white chocolate.

And a good cup of coffee beside it. In the Netherlands, these are not desserts for show. They are an invitation: sit down, stay a while, have another.

Dubai · today

Two cities, centuries apart, one outlook

Amsterdam and Dubai grew from water and trade. Both looked outward, welcomed newcomers and dared to build what others thought impossible.

Today Dubai is where the world meets. It feels like the natural place for a new chapter: Dutch treats crafted live, in front of you, for people from every corner of the globe.

Two cities, many cultures

Where the world comes to live

Few cities are as international as these two. In both, you hear a dozen languages on a single street, and neighbours bring their own recipes to the table.

Amsterdam

  • Home to people of more than 170 nationalities; most Amsterdammers have roots abroad
  • Centuries of newcomers: traders, refugees, artists and students
  • Markets where Surinamese, Turkish, Moroccan and Indonesian flavours sit beside Dutch classics

Dubai

  • Home to people of nearly 200 nationalities
  • Most residents came from abroad and made the city their home
  • Souks and festivals where Emirati tradition meets flavours from across the world

Different centuries, different climates, one shared habit: welcoming the world and sharing something sweet with it.
